How to Save PDF Pages as JPG Images

Updated 16 October 2026 · 4 min read

Turn one page or a whole document into pictures for chat apps, social posts, slides and image-only upload forms.

Plenty of places take pictures but not documents: social media, chat apps that preview images but not PDFs, slide decks, and online forms that ask for “a photo of your certificate”. Converting the page to JPG gives you an image that opens anywhere.

Step by step

  1. Open PDF to JPG and add your PDF. You can add several at once.
  2. Leave the page box on all, or type the pages you want, such as 1 or 1-3, 5.
  3. Choose a resolution (see below).
  4. Convert, then download each image or everything as a ZIP. With several PDFs, the ZIP has a folder for each file.

Which resolution?

ResolutionUse it for
1xChat messages, thumbnails and quick previews
2x (default)Screens, slides, social posts and most forms
3xPrinting, or reading very small print

An A4 page at 2x comes out at roughly 1190 × 1684 pixels, which is sharp on any screen. Higher resolutions make much larger files, so only use 3x when you need it.

If the image is too big for a form

Try 1x first. If you need exact pixel dimensions or a size in KB, use the Image Resizer and then the Image Compressor.

Things to be aware of

  • A JPG is a flat picture. Its text cannot be selected or searched and links stop working, so keep the PDF as well.
  • Transparent areas become white, because JPG has no transparency.
  • Password-protected PDFs need to be unlocked by their owner first.
  • Pages are drawn on your own device, so nothing is uploaded.

Need to go back the other way? JPG to PDF puts images into a single document.
