Convert a specific date and time between two time zones instantly, using your browser's built-in time zone data.

Schedule across time zones

Choose a date and time, the zone it is in, and the zone you want to convert to. The converter uses the IANA time zone database built into your browser, the same data your phone and computer use, so daylight saving changes and unusual offsets are handled for the date you pick.

Why the date matters

The gap between two cities is not fixed. New York and London are normally 5 hours apart, but for a few weeks each spring and autumn the gap is 4 hours, because the United States and Europe switch to and from daylight saving time on different dates. Countries in the southern hemisphere shift in the opposite season, and many countries, including Nepal, India, China and Japan, do not use daylight saving at all. Always convert for the actual date of your meeting.

Unusual offsets

ZoneOffset from UTC
Nepal (Asia/Kathmandu)+5:45
India (Asia/Kolkata)+5:30
Iran (Asia/Tehran)+3:30
Newfoundland (America/St_Johns)−3:30 (−2:30 in summer)
Chatham Islands, New Zealand+12:45 (+13:45 in summer)

Not every zone is a whole number of hours from UTC, which is exactly where mental arithmetic goes wrong. Let the converter handle it.

Tips for international meetings

  • Write the time zone in the invite (“10:00 Kathmandu / 05:15 London”), not just the time.
  • Use UTC as the reference time when coordinating more than two zones.
  • Watch for the date changing. An evening call in Los Angeles is the next morning in Asia and Australia.
  • Avoid scheduling recurring meetings just before or after a daylight saving switch without checking both sides.
