Why exact dimensions matter
Upload forms, marketplaces, ad platforms and website themes often require images of a specific width and height, or at least a minimum size. A photo that looks fine on your screen might be rejected for being 799 pixels wide when 800 is required. This tool reads the true pixel dimensions and aspect ratio straight from the file. Add several images to see them all in one table.
Pixels, aspect ratio and DPI
- Pixels are what matters for screens and uploads. A 1920 × 1080 image has 1920 columns and 1080 rows of pixels.
- Aspect ratio is the shape: 1920 × 1080 reduces to 16:9, and 1080 × 1080 is 1:1. Forms that ask for “a square image” mean 1:1.
- DPI (dots per inch) only matters for printing. To print at good quality you want about 300 pixels per inch, so a 6 × 4 inch print needs roughly 1800 × 1200 pixels.
| Print size | Pixels needed at 300 DPI |
|---|---|
| Passport photo (35 × 45 mm) | about 413 × 531 |
| 6 × 4 in photo | 1800 × 1200 |
| A4 page | about 2480 × 3508 |
What to do with the result
- Too large? Scale it down with the Image Resizer.
- Wrong shape? Trim it to the ratio you need with the Image Cropper.
- Need the file size as well? The Image File Size Checker shows bytes and format together.
A screenshot's pixel size depends on your display. On high-density screens, such as most phones and many laptops, a screenshot can be two or three times larger in pixels than it looks, which is worth knowing before uploading one.
