How to Prepare Your Photo and Signature for an Online Application
Updated 17 October 2026 · 5 min read
Get a photo and signature at the exact pixel size and KB limit an exam, job or bank form asks for, with a clean white background on the signature.
Exam boards, public service commissions, universities, banks and job portals usually ask for two images: a recent photo and a scan of your signature, each at an exact size in pixels and under a limit in KB. If either is even slightly off, the upload is rejected. The Photo & Signature Resizer makes both in one place.
1. Find the exact numbers
Look in the notice, the application guide, or next to the upload button. Requirements are usually written like this:
| Image | Example requirement |
|---|---|
| Photo | 300 × 350 px, 10–200 KB, JPG |
| Signature | 300 × 120 px, 5–50 KB, JPG |
These are only examples. Always use the numbers your form gives, because they differ from one organisation to another.
2. Make the photo
- Take a photo against a plain light wall in soft, even light, looking straight at the camera.
- Open the resizer and enter the form's Width (px), Height (px) and Max size (KB). Add the Min size (KB, optional) if the form gives one.
- Drag and zoom so your face is centred, with a little space above your head.
- Create the image and download it.
If the form wants a printed-style passport photo with a face guide, use the Passport Size Photo maker, and see the guide on passport photos at home.
3. Make the signature
- Sign with a black or dark blue pen on plain white paper, a little larger than usual.
- Photograph it from directly above in good light, with no shadow from your phone.
- Enter the signature's size and tick Clean up background. Light grey paper becomes pure white and the ink gets darker.
- Drag and zoom so the signature fills the frame without being cut off, then create and download it.
If thin strokes disappear after the cleanup, untick it and take the photo in brighter light instead.
4. Check before uploading
The resizer keeps the file under the maximum KB by lowering quality only as much as needed. You can confirm the exact size and dimensions with the Image File Size Checker.
- Still too big? The pixel size is very large for that KB limit. Try a slightly smaller width and height if the form allows it.
- Too small? If a simple signature comes out under the minimum, a larger width and height make the file bigger.
- Wrong shape? Never type a different width and height into an editor without cropping first, or your face will look stretched.
Everything runs in your browser, so your photo and signature, which are personal identity details, are never uploaded anywhere except the form you choose.
