How to Use
- 1Open the PDF you want to edit.
- 2Click any text and type your change, or switch to Add text or White-out.
- 3Adjust the font, size or colour if needed, then download the edited PDF.
Features
- Edit existing text in a matching font, size and colour
- Reuses the PDF's own font when it has every character you type
- Old text is removed from the file, not just covered
- Metric-compatible fonts for Calibri, Cambria, Arial, Times New Roman and Courier New
- Add new text anywhere on any page
- White-out boxes that also remove the text underneath
- No account, no upload, 100% in-browser
Edit the text already in a PDF: click a line and type the change. The old text is removed from the file, and the new text is drawn in the PDF's own font when it has every character you type, or otherwise in a font that matches the original's width and style, at the same size and colour. Add new text anywhere, and white-out anything you want gone. Works in your browser, and your document is never uploaded.
Three ways to edit
- Edit text: hover over the page to see the lines you can change, click one, and type. The old text is removed from the file and yours is drawn in its place.
- Add text: click anywhere to start typing, then drag the handle to move it.
- White-out: drag a box over anything you want gone, such as an old address or a stray mark. Text underneath is removed from the file, and pictures or lines are covered.
How the font is matched
When you click a line, the tool reads its font name, size and colour from the PDF. If the PDF's own font already contains every character you type, which is common when you change numbers, dates or names, your edit is drawn in that exact font. Otherwise, for the fonts below, it uses a free font with exactly the same character widths, so your edit fits the original space and looks the same.
| Original font | Matched with |
|---|---|
| Calibri | Carlito |
| Cambria | Caladea |
| Arial, Helvetica | Arimo |
| Times New Roman | Tinos |
| Courier New | Cousine |
Other fonts get the closest style, serif, sans-serif or monospace, in bold or italic where the original was, at the same size. You can always pick a different font, size or colour from the bar above the page.
Good to know
- Edited and whited-out text is removed from the file, so it can't be found by copying or searching. The saved file is checked, and if any text couldn't be removed, for example text inside an embedded graphic, it's covered and you're told.
- Scanned PDFs are images: use White-out and Add text to change them.
- Every editing font covers Latin letters, and most also cover Greek and Cyrillic. If you type a character the chosen font can't draw, you're told before saving.
