Taking the photo
- Stand about half a metre in front of a plain white or light wall, so there's no shadow behind you.
- Face a window for soft, even light, and look straight at the camera with a neutral expression.
- Ask someone to take it from about 1.5 metres away at eye level, rather than a selfie, so your face isn't distorted.
- Australia accepts 35–40 mm by 45–50 mm; this makes the smallest allowed size, printed on glossy photo paper.
