  • Gets every image under 50 KB automatically
  • Highest quality that fits, scaled down only when it must be
  • Works with JPG, PNG and WebP, saved as JPG
  • Up to 50 images at once, download individually or as a ZIP
  • No upload, 100% in-browser

Compress Image to 50 KB reduces any photo to under 50 KB automatically. It picks the highest JPG quality that fits and only scales the picture down when quality alone isn't enough, so you get the best-looking file that meets the limit, without uploading anything.

When you need an image under 50 KB

  • Photo uploads on government, university and recruitment portals that cap photos at around 50 KB
  • Profile pictures for sites with small upload limits
  • Scanned signatures or thumbprints that need more detail than 20 KB allows

Every form sets its own limits. Check its instructions for the exact file size, format and pixel dimensions before you upload.

What fits in 50 KB

50 KB comfortably holds a sharp passport-size photo, and a face photo around 500 pixels across usually looks clean. Larger photos are scaled down only as much as needed to get under the limit.

How it gets your image under the limit

  1. If the image is already under 50 KB, you get it back untouched.
  2. Otherwise it's saved as a JPG at the highest quality that stays under 50 KB.
  3. If even the lowest quality is too big, the picture is scaled down a little at a time until it fits.

Need a different size? Change the number in the box, or use the full Image Compressor to compress by quality instead.
