Compress Image to 200 KB reduces any photo to under 200 KB automatically. It picks the highest JPG quality that fits and only scales the picture down when quality alone isn't enough, so you get the best-looking file that meets the limit, without uploading anything.
When you need an image under 200 KB
- Website and blog images that need to load quickly
- Detailed document scans where small print must stay readable
- Portals that allow larger photo or document uploads, up to about 200 KB
Every form sets its own limits. Check its instructions for the exact file size, format and pixel dimensions before you upload.
What fits in 200 KB
200 KB holds a good-quality photo of around 1500 pixels across, which is plenty for a full-width web image or a detailed scan. Most phone photos only need their JPG quality lowered to fit, without losing any pixels.
How it gets your image under the limit
- If the image is already under 200 KB, you get it back untouched.
- Otherwise it's saved as a JPG at the highest quality that stays under 200 KB.
- If even the lowest quality is too big, the picture is scaled down a little at a time until it fits.
Need a different size? Change the number in the box, or use the full Image Compressor to compress by quality instead.
